Öğe Effect of person-organization fit on affective commitment and turnover intention(İstanbul Gedik Üniversitesi, 2022) Tamhor, Saleh Mohammed; Erkasap, AhmetThe good working conditions can lead workers to continue working in the same organization. Most organization today require efficient and stable human resources to perform effectively. However, keeping workers requires applying strategies related to two main aspects, which are affective commitment (AC) and turnover intention (TI). This study tests the effects of person-organization fit (PO) on affective commitment (AC) and turnover intention (TI) in Iraqi companies. The study contribution is that it could add to the literature an analytical method to test the effects of PO on AC and TI in Iraqi companies. That can be used for future research that may apply on different companies in Iraq. This study was applied on six medium size-manufacturing companies that are specialized in plastic production in Iraq. They have adopted different strategies to improve their employees' AC and reduce their TI. Their programs and strategies are based on the effect of PO on both AC and TI. The population of the study was 400 employees. They were the companies' top managers, and employees who are working in different positions. A random sample method was used to draw a sample, and the sample size used was 218. The questionnaire was used to collect information about PO, AC, and TI, and demographic information about the respondents. Using SSPS 17.0 software, all the necessary statistical tests and analyses were performed. The results of this study showed that, in general, PO has a statistically positive and significant effect on the AC, and negative and significant effect on TI. The study concludes that PO in the sample companies in Iraq can enhance the AC and reduce the TI. The study concludes that theses results support the study hypotheses, and in line with the literature. The study suggests that the sample companies should keep applying strategies and programs to improve their PO. They may also add other methods to improve their employees' PO, which by the end increase their AC and reduce their TI.
