In the study, it was aimed to determine the health literacy level of the mothers of 0-1 year old children hospitalized in the pediatric clinic and the factors affecting it. The descriptive study was conducted with 104 mothers who were the parents of 0-1 year old children hospitalized in the Ministry of Health Hendek State Hospital pediatric clinic between March and June 2022. Research data were obtained with the "Mother Identification Form", "European Health Literacy Scale". Of the mothers included in the study, 11.5% had "inadequate health literacy level", 44.2% had a "problematic/limited health literacy level", 32.7% had a 'sufficient health literacy level' and 11.6% had an 'excellent health literacy level'. It was determined that the health literacy of the mothers who were primary school graduates, who did not work and whose children were hospitalized first time, had a lower level of health literacy. It was determined that the total scale scores of mothers who knew the concept of health literacy and thought that health literacy was an important concept were higher. It is recommended to increase the health literacy levels of mothers in the role of primary caregivers through trainings.
