It is seen that the concept of space of life has played a central role in the Eurasianism, which bases Russia’s historical and cultural ties with European lands back to ancient times and defends the idea of Eurasian unity in this framework. It is seen that the concept mentioned in the Eurasianism, which was put forward by an influential Russian immigrant intellectual group, including N. S. Trubetskoy, P. N. Savistky and G. Vernadsky, after the Bolshevik Revolution, was mainly supported by idealist Slavophilic thought and Orthodoxy beliefs. It is seen that the concept was brought up again within the framework of the Neo-Eurasianiasm by A. Dugin in the period after the dissolution of the USSR. In the study, the concept of “mestorazvitie”, which has an important place in Russian political geography and geopolitics and can be translated as “space of life”, has been examined in etymological and semantic terms. It is seen that the word topogenesis, which means the creation/reproduction of space or settlement by expanding, is used as the western equivalent of the concept. It is seen that the concept created by making an analogy from the concept of Lebensraum was first used by the German political geographer F. Ratzel at the end of the 19th century, and was used to legitimize Russian expansionism in accordance with the expansionist politics of the other great powers of that period and the mode of operation in their foreign policies.
