Kadın suçluluğunun internet ve sosyal medyada gösterimi: örneklerle bir içerik analizi

Bu tez çalışmam internet ve sosyal medya haberciliğinin kadın suçluluğunu nasıl temsil ettiğini analiz etmektedir. Araştırma medya temsillerinin cinsiyet eşitliği ve kadın algısı üzerindeki etkilerini araştırmayı amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmamız İnternet ve Sosyal Medya platformları üzerinde yer alan haberlerin içerik analizini içermektedir. Haberlerin dili, kullanılan görseller, haberin çevrelenişi, ana fikri, yorumlanması, kodlarının belirlenmesi unsurları çevresinde incelenmiştir. Medyada kadın suçluluğunun temsili, cinsiyet eşitliği ve kadın algısı üzerinde olumsuz bir etki yaratmaktadır. Bu temsiller, kadınların toplumdaki 'kadın' algısını etkileyebilir, kadına karşı ayrımcı ve şiddeti oluşturabilecek, körükleyebilecek, ön yargıları güçlendirebilecek ve kadınları da suça sürükleme riskini arttırabilmektedir. Bahse konu çalışmada kadınlara yönelik temsillerde ön yargı ve stereotiplerin ne olduğu, kadınların erkeklere göre duygusal, pasif ve ailevi yönden sorumluluklarının ne derece ortaya konulduğuna, kadınların işledikleri suçların erkeklerin işlediği suçlara göre farklı sebeplere bağlanmasının sebepleri, kadın suçlulara yönelik internet ve sosyal medya üzerinde nefret oluşturabilecek bir söylemin olup olmadığı sorgulanmaktadır. Bu kapsamda kadın suçluluğu üzerine yapılmış internet ve sosyal medya üzerinde toplamda 55 habere ulaşılmış, konularına göre haberler birbirlerinden ayrılmış, içerik analizleri yapılarak suç konularına göre frekans analizleri yapılmıştır. Suçların konu başlıkları hırsızlık, dolandırıcılık, yaralama-öldürme, tehdithakaret ve uyuşturucu haberleri olarak suçlar birbirinden ayrılmıştır. Suç konuları altında ise 11 adet farklı kaynaklardan elde edilen haberler seçilmiştir. Haberler tablolaştırılırken de suç konuları baz alınmıştır. Haberlerin çeşitlilik gösterebilmesi için kadınların işledikleri farklı suç türleri ve nedenler göz önüne alınarak haber çeşitliliği oluşturulmaya çalışılmıştır. Bahse konu tezimizde kullandığımız haberler en çok bilinen ve daha çok insana hitap eden siteler üzerinden arama motoru kısmına suç niteliklerini belirtilmesi üzerine öncelikli çıkan haberler üzerinden oluşturulmuştur. Medya kuruluşlarının çok insana hızlı bir şekilde ulaşmasından mütevellit kadın temsillerinde daha dikkatli, sorumluluklarını bilen, adil, eşit bir algı yaratması önemlidir. Medya temsilleri yaparken cinsiyete yönelik duyarlılıkları göz önünde bulundurmalı, önyargı oluşturmamak amacıyla dikkatli davranmalı, kadın ve erkeklerin suçluluklarının sebep ve sonuçlarını oluşan durumlar çerçevesinde değerlendirmeli ve genellemeler yapmamalı, sosyal medya platformlarının kötü algılar ile mücadele etmesi adımları atılmalıdır.

This thesis analyzes how the internet and social media news represent female criminality. The research aims to investigate the effects of media representations on gender equality and the perception of women. Our study includes a content analysis of news published on the Internet and social media platforms. The news has been examined around the elements of the language of the news, the visuals used, the context of the news, the main idea, its interpretation, and the identification of its codes. The representation of female criminality in the media has a negative impact on gender equality and the perception of women. These representations can affect the perception of 'women' in society, create and exacerbate discrimination and violence against women, strengthen prejudices, and increase the risk of women being involved in crime. The study in question examines what prejudices and stereotypes are present in the representations of women, to what extent the emotional, passive and family responsibilities of women are compared to those of men, the reasons why the crimes committed by women are attributed to different causes than those committed by men, and whether or not there is a discourse on the internet and social media that could create hatred towards female criminals. In this context, a total of 55 news stories about female criminality were found on the internet and social media, the news stories were separated from each other according to their topics, content analyses were carried out and frequency analyses were made according to crime topics. The crime topics were classified as theft, fraud, assault-homicide, threatsinsults and drug news. Under the crime topics, news from 11 different sources were selected. The crime topics were also taken into account when tabulating the news. In order to ensure the diversity of the news, an attempt was made to create diversity in the news by taking into account the different types of crimes and reasons committed by women. The news used in our thesis was created by searching the search engine section of the most well-known and widely visited websites with the crime characteristics specified. Due to the fact that media organizations reach a large number of people quickly, it is important for them to create a more careful, responsible, fair and equal perception of women's representation. When making media representations, gender sensitivities should be taken into account, care should be taken to avoid creating prejudice, the causes and consequences of the criminality of women and men should be evaluated in the context of the situations that arise, and generalizations should not be made, and steps should be taken to combat negative perceptions on social media platforms.
