Özet
Selenium stands out as a standard tool in the field of software test automation, especially for web-based applications. While its strengths enable it to maintain its leadership in software testing processes, its integration with modern technologies and innovations in areas that need improvement can further increase the potential of this tool. This paper presents a comprehensive literature review of Selenium's advantages, limitations, and role in software testing processes. In this study, relevant studies in the academic world have been meticulously reviewed, and it has been argued that despite Selenium's many advantages, some of its limitations need to be resolved. Many aspects of Selenium are evaluated, from its comparison with other tools to driver management and integration processes; from its performance to its integration with artificial intelligence. While its use in modern testing technologies and mobile/IoT testing processes is promising, it was found that more optimization is needed in these areas. In addition, studies in the literature reveal that the open-source nature of Selenium may pose risks of misuse, and this necessitates increased security measures. In this context, extensive development work is required for Selenium to have a wider and more effective usage area while maintaining its current strength.
