Özet
Welding and machining processes, which are frequently used in industry to provide the desired geometry and conditions to metals, contain residual stresses and these residual stresses are undesirable for the manufacturing industry. In this study, residual stresses after butt welding and machining variation of these stresses were investigated experimentally and numerically. MSC Marc Mentat commercial software is used for simulations of sequential processes. The results of the finite element model created for the simulation of the welding process are recorded at the end of the simulation and these results are transferred to the cutting simulations without any changes with the pre-stress option. For the validation of the numerical method, 100x50x10mm AISI 304 steel plates were used in the experimental study. TIG welding process has been applied to the parts first and the desired geometry is given to the parts that have been welded with the help of milling cutter. Residual stresses were measured after both treatments. Experimental and numerical results obtained from sequential operations were compared and found satisfactory. © 2023 American Institute of Physics Inc.. All rights reserved.
